West Tripura gears up for grand Durga Puja celebrations with extensive security arrangements

The District Magistrate and Collector of West Tripura, provided details regarding the upcoming Durga Puja celebrations, set to commence on October 10. 

Agartala and West Tripura will serve as the primary hubs for the grand festivities, with a staggering number of nearly 900 pandals being erected across West Tripura, and around 500 within the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) limits.

To ensure smooth conduct and safety during the events, Kumar announced that a substantial reinforcement of police personnel has been arranged. "An additional 1,500 police officers will be on duty, tasked with round-the-clock security monitoring. Moreover, 500 traffic police officers will manage vehicular movement across key locations," he shared.

In light of the large crowds expected, stringent security measures are being implemented. Eleven checkpoints will be established throughout the region to regulate movement, with CCTV cameras and drones already in place to enhance surveillance. 

Furthermore, a National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team will remain on standby to address any emergency situations that may arise during the celebrations.
