Witness from Singapore arrives in Guwahati to aid CID probe into Zubeen Garg's death
Rupkamal Kalita, one of the eight individuals who were with singer-actor Zubeen Garg during his final moments in Singapore, appeared before the Assam CID today.
The other seven individuals have yet to respond to the summons issued by the investigation team.
Earlier, speaking to reporters, Assam CM stated that Kalita, who was on the yacht when Garg drowned while swimming on September 19, has confirmed his cooperation and is expected to reach Guwahati on October 7.
“We will maintain pressure on the remaining seven. The sooner they cooperate, the sooner we can complete the investigation,” the Chief Minister added.

Regarding Assam Police visiting Singapore, Sarma clarified that it is unnecessary under the Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty (MLAT). “Our request has already been sent to Singapore. Evidence gathered by the Singapore Police will be shared with us. No foreign country allows another country’s police to investigate on their soil,” he said.
The investigation into the circumstances surrounding Garg’s death remains ongoing, with authorities emphasising the need for full cooperation from all witnesses.
