Woman found dead in Assam's Tinsukia, rape and murder suspected

In the midst of a troubling surge in crime across Assam, a 31-year-old woman was discovered dead under suspicious circumstances in Baghjan, Tinsukia district, on the morning of Thursday, June 6. Preliminary reports suggest that the woman was raped before being killed and her body disposed of.

The incident has sparked widespread outrage and concern among the local community. Identified by residents as the wife of a man named Suring, the woman was found near Baghjan EPS. The grim discovery was made by a local who was out fishing in a nearby pond.

Both Baghjan Police and Guijan Police responded promptly to the scene following reports from the locals. "The investigation into the incident is currently underway," stated the police, indicating an active pursuit of leads.
