"Won't tolerate Assam Police personnel getting beaten up by Bangladeshis": Shrinkhal Chaliha on Sonapur eviction

As tensions mount in Sonapur's Kachutali, Bir Lachit Sena leader Shrinkhal Chaliha expressed deep concerns over the continued seizure of tribal belt lands, accusing foreign nationals, specifically Bangladeshis, of gradually eroding the rights of Assam’s indigenous communities.

Chaliha raised a pressing question, challenging the political landscape of Assam, "How long should indigenous people remain silent while their lands are taken? Why should tribal belt lands fall into the wrong hands due to vote bank politics?" He made it clear that the protection of these lands should be the primary concern of any political party and stressed that no political entity would be allowed to manipulate the situation for electoral gains. "We have to safeguard the rights of tribal people. If there's an attack, there will certainly be a counter-attack."

He further criticized political parties, alleging that many are more interested in gaining votes from questionable individuals rather than securing the rights of Assam's native communities. Chaliha questioned, "Which political party is genuinely working for the protection of the tribal people’s rights?"

In a stern warning, the leader emphasized his resolve, stating that he would not tolerate Assam Police being overpowered or humiliated by what he described as outsiders. "This is a fight to save Assam’s land, our civilization, and our culture," Chaliha declared, promising that this struggle would not waver and calling for a united protest to ensure the victory of the Khilonjiya (indigenous) people.
