NEW DELHI: India reported 134,105 new COVID-19 infections in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of cases to 28,440,988.
Deaths, on the other hand have not decreased in proportion. Today is the 44th day in a row that the government has reported over 2,000 daily Covid deaths.

With 2,899 more deaths, the death toll now stands at 338,013, according to Worldometer this morning. It is still the second-worst-affected country.
According to the Union health ministry's 7 p.m. provisional report on Wednesday, India has reached a momentous milestone with total COVID-19 vaccination coverage surpassing 22 crore.
Tamil Nadu leads the state list with 25,317 infections reported in the last 24 hours. Karnataka comes in second with 19,661 new infections. In Maharashtra, there were 15,169 cases reported.
Kerala has 19,760 cases, while Andhra Pradesh has 12,768 and West Bengal has a total of 8,923 cases.
