IMPHAL: Child climate activist Licypriya Kangujam from Manipur has raised Rs. 47 lakhs to help India to fight against the battle of COVID-19 by importing oxygen concentrators.

The 9-year-old activist Licypriya had started a fundraiser campaign called 'India Needs Oxygen Mission' to buy oxygen concentrators for India and poor COVID-19 infected patients

The concentrators will not be associated with any Government or private hospitals or agencies. All oxygen concentrators to be handed over to the needy patients who had not received any government assistance.

Licypriya on her Twitter page took a jibe at PM Cares Fund and also said that she will do the process in a transparent manner, unlike the PM Cares Fund.

Licypriya had already donated a total amount of Rs.12 lakhs to a organization in Delhi to start the groundwork. Kangujam has shared every detail of donations she had received as well as she's giving away on her social media handles to keep it transparent.

"10 pieces of 5L Oxygen Concentrator will reach India Flag of India in the next few days which costs around 50,000₹ per piece including shipping. Total 100 pieces ordered. I’m trying my best by spending my own savings and some from my awards received last year. Let’s hope for the best," Licypriya wrote in a tweet sharing the pictures of the oxygen concentrators.

Licypriya is contributing from her own savings and awards she has received last year and also urged people to donate as 100 pieces are not sufficient to cover the requirement.
