AIZWAL: A 21-year-old who was a student of a first-year MBBS student at Zoram Medical College (ZMC) has committed suicide yesterday.
According to report, the 21-year-old was found hanging from a ceiling fan in a hostel room.
The deceased has been identified as Nazar Chakma, a resident of Chawngte C in Lawngtlai district in Mizoram.
Nazar Chakma was depressed over his academic result, as his result was declared failed, said Mizoram deputy inspector general of police (northern range) Lalbiakthanga Khiangte.
Nazar Chakma was also avoiding food and remained inactive over depression since his results were out, the police official added.

The victim locked the door from inside and took the firm step by hanging himself with a nylon rope from the ceiling fan while his friends were playing badminton outside.
Meanwhile his roommate Dharshan Chakma along with the college watchman broke the door and lifted his body.
They immediately rushed to the ZMC hospital as his body was still warm, however, doctors could not save him.
Police said it is a clear suicide case as there was no foul play.
No suicide note has been found.
