Mizoram sees 5,046 recoveries of COVID patients so far as of yesterday

AIZAWL: As of yesterday, as many as 5,046 people infected with the COVID-19 have so far been recovered in Mizoram.

Meanwhile, the state in the past 24 hours has reported 74 fresh cases of COVID-19.

With more 74 people tested positive for the novel Coronavirus, the cumulative number of positive cases in the state rose to 6,358.

Of the total new cases, 42 cases were reported from the state capital Aizwal, 18 from Lunglei, and eight from Lawngtlai district.

Mizoram also reported one fatality due to the virus, pushing the death tally t0 16.

The state currently has 1,296 active cases.

So far, 3,10,058 samples have been screened for COVID-19, with 1,231 samples tested since Sunday.

According to State Immunization Officer Lalzawmi, the first dose of the vaccine was given to 2,09,089 people, and 46,018 people received both doses until May 1.

Commencing from today the Mizoram government has announced an eight-day lockdown in the state till May 11 in view of the unabated rise in COVID-19 positive cases.
