Naga People's Front Requests NSCN (IM) to Reach "Amicable Final Settlement"

New Delhi, November 2, 2019:

A Naga People's Front (NPF) party delegation met the leadership of NSCN (IM) on Thursday, after the apparent conclusion of the 22-years long peace talks.

The NPF delegation from Nagaland and Manipur met and congratulated the Collective leadership of the NSCN (IM) for the "historic breakthrough" in New Delhi on Thursday, October 31.

The NPF leaders requested the leadership for an amicable final settlement at the earliest with no further hiatus, said NPF leader and former Nagaland Chief Minister TR Zeliang.

Meanwhile, the Nagaland Chief Minister the “historic breakthrough” in the Naga peace talks, Nagaland CM Neiphiu Rio congratulated Interlocutor RN Ravi as well as the NSCN (IM) and NNPGs for the “efforts and sacrifices”.

The Home Ministry has issued a clarification notice about the peace talks. The statement read, “lots of rumours and misinformation is being spread in media including social media that final Naga settlement has been arrived at and will be announced soon. This is creating

anxiety and concern in some parts of the country. It is clarified that before any settlement is arrived at with Naga groups, all stakeholders including States of Assam, Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh will be duly consulted and their concerns will be taken into consideration.”
