NSF reiterates demand for blanket ban on departmental exams

DIMAPUR: The Naga Students Federation (NSF) reiterated its demand for a blanket ban on departmental exams for recruitment into various ‘Group C’ posts until the Nagaland Staff Selection Board (NSSB) is put into operation in Nagaland. It warned to take up befitting democratic agitation for failure to do so.

The federation in its presidential council meeting on February 22 last year adopted a resolution calling for a blanket ban on departmental exams for appointment in these posts.

The NSF, along with its various units, held an emergency meeting in its office in Kohima on Wednesday to discuss the issue following an office memorandum issued by the State Personnel and Administrative Reforms (Administrative reforms branch) Department on ‘partial lifting of appointment’ in the State.

The meeting held a threadbare deliberation on the rising rate of educated unemployed youths in the State due to certain ‘tacit policies’ adopted by the State government.

The NSF questioned the rationale behind going ahead with the departmental exams while making various excuses in implementing the NSSB. It demanded that all the existing vacancies for ‘Group C’ posts that are not within the purview of the Nagaland Public Service Commission be requisitioned to the NSSB and the departmental exams scrapped once and for all.

The meeting also demanded that the age relaxation for entry into government services should be in sync with the period of delay in recruitment due to non-implementation of NSSB and not merely one year.

The meeting in principle agreed to appeal to the agitated job aspirants to fully understand the rationale behind the federation’s demand for immediate implementation of the NSSB.

This is to curb rampant backdoor appointments which are depriving the hardworking youths from facing the proper selection process, the NSF stated in a release.
