NEW DELHI: Baba Ramdev, the yoga guru, petitioned the Supreme Court on Wednesday for a stay of proceedings in the multiple FIRs, alleging that he made remarks calling allopathy "ineffective" and criticised doctors' treatment methods for Covid-19 patients.
In his plea, Baba Ramdev asks for a stay on proceedings in FIRs filed by the Indian Medical Association (IMA) in Patna and Raipur, as well as a transfer of the FIRs to Delhi.
Baba Ramdev has been charged by police in Raipur, Chhattisgarh for allegedly spreading "false" information on the medicines used by the medical fraternity to treat Covid-19.

According to police, the case was filed against Baba Ramdev on Wednesday night based on a complaint filed by the Chhattisgarh unit of the Indian Medical Association (IMA).
According to the sources, Baba Ramdev has been charged under the Sections 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant), 269 (negligent act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) and others of the IPC and provisions of Disaster Management Act, 2005.
Baba Ramdev has been in a fight with the Indian Medical Association (IMA) for weeks after making controversial remarks in a video that upset the medical community, in which he questioned the Covid-19 vaccines as well as the efficacy of allopathic medicine.
