Six active cadres of the United Socialist Revolutionary Army (USRA), including two teenagers, were arrested along with arms, ammunition and camouflage uniforms on Monday.
Arrests and seizures of illegal items were made by a combined team of Imphal East district police commandos and 6th Assam Rifles at around 5 pm on Monday, Superintendent of Police, Imphal East District Jugeschandra Haobijam said on Tuesday.
The United Socialist Revolutionary Army militants were arrested during a massive search operation at K Shoronphai village and Andro Torongthel in Imphal East district on Monday.
They were arrested along one AK series HK rifle (with two magazines), 36 live rounds of HK rifle, one 9 mm pistol with magazine, 4 live 9 mm pistol rounds, 19 live M16 ammunition, a double barrelled gun with 20 live rounds, a Chinese hand grenade, military jungle shoes, camouflage uniform and a Maruti Swift car.
The arrested persons are identified as, Lenminthang Baite alias Earnesto (41), S Jamal Vaiphei (34), Jamkhothang Vaiphei (50), Mangku Haokip (19), Momon Baite (19) and Thangrijoy Baite (36).
They arrested militants are now in the police custody, the SP added.
