New Delhi: Union minister of youth affairs and sports Shri Anurag Thakur introduced the official cheer song for the Indian contingent heading to Tokyo in a virtual event on Wednesday.
The song named "Hindustani Way," written by famous veteran Indian music composer AR Rahman and performed by teenage pop singer Ananya Birla.
Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports Shri Nisith Pramanik, Indian Olympic Association President Shri Narinder Batra, IOA Secretary-General Shri Rajeev Mehta, Director General, Sports Authority of India Shri Sandip Pradhan and CEO, Target Olympic Podium Scheme, Commander Rajgopalan were among those who attended the launch event.

Thakur praised and congratulated the artists for joining together in difficult times and pouring their passion into the project.
“I thank AR Rahman and Ananya Birla's initiative.They put a lot of passion into this song and it took a lot of compassion to perform it during the Covid 19 pandemic, when collaboration was difficult at a time. You put in all of your effort and passion to create this song for Team India and to show your support for India. I urge everyone to share this song as much as possible,” said Thakur.
Shri Nisith Pramanik stated that the song is yet another positive move in Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi's clarion call to cheer on the Tokyo-bound athletes in every manner possible.
“For our Tokyo-bound athletes, Hon. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi launched the #Cheer4India initiative. The country gathered to show their support and unity in response to this clarion call. I am grateful to maestro AR Rahman and youth icon Ananya Birla for creating such a wonderful production,” he added.
