RIYADH: Three soldiers were executed in Saudi Arabia on Saturday on the charges of "the crime of high treason in cooperation with the enemy".
The defence ministry of the kingdom said in a release by the official Saudi Press Agency that the convicts' guilt threatens the kingdom and its military interests.
As reported in that same statement, the three convicted soldiers were namely Mohammed bin Ahmed, Shaher bin Issa and Hamoud bin Ibrahim. However, the statement restrains from mentioning with whom they were accused of colluding.

Currently, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, heir to the throne, holds the title of defence minister, made the announcement.
Prince Mohammed currently controls all major government departments, hence he has been seen as a de facto ruler of Saudi Arabia. His brother Prince Khalid bin Salman is the deputy of the defence ministry as well.
