TRIPURA: The Tripura government issued an ad-hoc ‘Promotion Policy 2021' for government employees on Tuesday, according to state education Minister Ratan Lal Nath.
According to him, the promotion will be granted on an ad hoc basis subject to final outcome of the SLP pending before the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India, and in view of the most recent available seniority list for the feeder post.
However, this is a one-time promotion, said Nath.

If any section, such as scheduled caste, scheduled tribe or unreserved category is denied of a promotion, supernumerary posts will be created, Nath added.
These promotions have been delayed for many years and as a result, these employees have been deprived of their promotion. Many people have not been promoted to higher ranks and got retired, according to the senior minister.
Employees in the government were losing interest in working since they were not being promoted. As a result, the ad hoc promotion notification was sent shortly after the cabinet decision on Tuesday, Nath said.
Even lower-level positions will become vacant and providing work opportunities for the state's unemployed youth, said Nath.
