PM Modi slams Congress for neglecting Northeast, says party followed one policy and that was ‘Loot East Policy'

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday criticized the then Congress government for neglecting the Tripura and Northeast region and said that their one and only policy was policy was ‘Loot East’.

PM Modi who was in Agartala for addressing a massive election campaign for BJP candidates including Biplab Kumar Deb and Kriti Singh Debbarma, said that in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, people must ensure to vote for development of Tripura.

“I urge you to vote for our candidates on 19th and 26th April. Every vote given to BJP-NDA will strengthen Modi ki Guarantee!”, he said.

PM further said that when CPIM and Congress were the major parties in Tripura, corruption was prospering.

“The Leftist parties made Tripura a hub for corruption. On the surface, the Leftists and Congress might look like rivals. But behind the curtains, they share the same ideology. We are working relentlessly for the development of the Northeast. I am the only Prime Minister to have visited the Northeast over 50 times in a decade”, said Modi.

He said that today, for Tripura, BJP means the politics of development.

“Now, we are going to work on the HIRA+ Model. The Congress govt neglected the development of the Northeast. Their policy was ‘Loot East’. 10 years ago, I put an end to the Loot East Policy of the Congress and the Leftists.
Now, the we are working on the ‘Act East’ policy. We have decided to expand the benefits of Ayushman Bharat Yojana to senior citizens. For the development of Tripura, BJP has worked on the HIRA Model - Highway, Internetway, Railway and Airways. Construction of 4-lane highway in Tripura is underway”, he said.

PM Modi further announced that BJP has decided to construct 3 crore new houses in India and the people of Tripura are going to benefit a great deal from the initiative.

“We are focusing to enhance connectivity in the Northeast. Our government has provided free gas connections to over 3 lakh women. We have also initiated the Eklavya Model Schools for educating the children from tribal communities”, he added.
