Assam: BPF candidate slams MP Naba Sarania for creating tension over non-Bodo rights issue

As the Lok Sabha elections are round the corner, the election campaign has picked up heat and become more intense. In Bodoland Territorial Council, BPF candidate from No. 1 Kokrajhar Lok Sabha constituency, Khampa Borgyary, has begun his election campaign for the Assembly constituency in Gosaigaon No. 1 with a day-long programme and interacted with party workers.

Borgyari while interacting with the reporters slammed sitting MP Naba Sarania for creating unecessary situation in the community by raising up Bodo, non-Bodo issue.

"You are mentioning about two contenders for the elections. One is from UPPL and the other one is Naba Sarania. Naba Sarania is engaging in Bodo, Non-Bodo issue. In today's time in BTC, if one engages in Bengali, Non Bengali politics, then it will create tension within the community. Anyone trying to flag any political tension in the name of Bodo, Non-Bodo issue, we wouldn't accept such politics. Similarly, why would we allow any tension to create in the name of Rajbongshi, Non-Rajbongshi issue. Naba Sarania is trying to single out the Bodos by engaging in apolitical issues and activities. He has been MP two times but has failed to fulfill the promise he made in the past 10 years" said Khampa Borgyary.

Borgyary has hailed BPF for contribution in peace and developent in BC during their rule while adding that the current UPPL party has only agitaed, instigated armed organisations and disturbed the peace in the region.

When asked by reporters, Borgyari said that when the BPF ruled for 17 years, the leaders of the UPPL party agitated, instigated the armed organisations and allowed various disturbing activities to take place, an atmosphere of unrest was created in the region. On the other hand, there is no alternative in the Lok Sabha elections and his victory in Kokrajhar is 100 per cent sure.

"I am confident we will win. We have contributed to peace, development in the region, issues pertaining to each and every community or any matter have been taken care off by us. None can defeat us. You can ask the people here how candidates, party members moving around the village have received positive response" quipped Borgyary.
