Assam Congress President predicts victory in 40 out of 47 LS assembly constituencies in first phase of LS elections

Assam Congress State President Bhupen Borah on April 21 expressed confidence in securing victory in 40 out of 47 assembly constituencies in first phase of  Lok Sabha elections.

Addressing the press, Bhupen Borah stated, "There are 47 assembly constituencies out of 47. As per my internal assessment, as per the report of my party leaders and workers in 40 assembly segments, we are going to win."

Highlighting specific demographics in the Hojai district, Borah highlighted the electoral dynamics at play, particularly among religious and linguistic minorities. He cited Hojai as a prime example where the religious minority's overwhelming support for Congress is anticipated to sway the electoral outcome significantly.

"BJP claimed that Hojai district was their RSS headquarters in Assam. And Hojai district is dominated by religious and linguistic minority. And you know better that religious minority in the according to the polling station report. Religious minority. 95% to 99%  of vote was in favor of Congress. Although religious minority custody about 95% above, but percentage of pooling in district is 65%. What does it mean? It means that linguistic minority this time boycotted pulling, and because of which BJP will be lost in only in Hojai district by more than one lakh votes," Bhupen Borah said.
