Assam Lok Sabha elections 2024: Minister Atul Bora says NDA honours commitments, Congress promises forgotten

Assam Gana Parishad president and minister Atul Bora has voiced skepticism over the Congress Lok Sabha election manifesto, asserting, "No one can trust Congress."

Bora talked about the alleged transient nature of Congress promises, stating, "People know that they only have given promises for the election and after that, they forget it."

Reflecting on past actions, he questioned, "what did they do in the past?" Bora expressed his thoughts on the current fragility of the Congress party, stating, "at present, Congress is very weak."

Highlighting the achievements of the NDA government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Bora affirmed, "NDA came to power in 2014... he has honored his own commitment." He further commented on the ongoing election campaign, stating, "The election is very close and we are campaigning through the state." Bora revealed AGP's electoral strategy, noting, "We are contesting in two seats - Barpeta & Dhubri, while our partner party BJP is contesting in 11 seats and UPPL is contesting in one seat (Kokrajhar)."

On opposition unity, Bora criticized the Congress for its failure to galvanize the opposition forces. He remarked, "they (Congress) have failed to unite the Opposition."

Speaking to ANI, Bora questioned the sincerity of Congress's claims of unity, stating, "Just on the eve of the election, they said that they were united." He cast doubt on the effectiveness of Congress's alliance, stating, "what is the present condition of Congress and other Opposition parties?" Bora specifically cited the situation in Assam, stating, "in Assam, the Congress state president said that they have 17 Opposition political parties under the umbrella of Congress, but people don't know how many parties among them are really working on the ground."

Bora also expressed confidence in the NDA's prospects, declaring he articulated ambitious electoral aspirations, stating, "the overall situation is in favor of the NDA".
