Assam: 'Waris Punjab De' chief Amritpal Singh's Lok Sabha candidacy in doubt, family says yet to decide

Tarsem Singh, father of 'Waris Punjab De' Chief Amritpal Singh, has addressed speculation about his son's potential candidacy in the Lok Sabha elections.

In a recent statement, he clarified that a final decision has not been made and that the family is still considering their options.

On talks of 'Waris Punjab De' Chief Amritpal Singh contesting Lok Sabha elections, his father Tarsem Singh says, "We could not have a proper discussion on it... Contesting the elections is not final yet. We need to know what the ground reality is... We are thinking about it... Nothing is confirmed regarding the elections... This cannot be our decision. It should be the decision of the locals. He said that he does not have any will to contest but he will if the people want... We don't want anything, whatever the people want is fine with us... He (Amritpal) said that those are his people and he is fighting for them. He said that he would fight elections if the people want, he will not, if the people don't want..."

Tarsem emphasised the importance of understanding the ground reality before making a decision and stated that it should ultimately be the choice of the local population.

He also mentioned that Amritpal expressed a willingness to run for election if it was the wish of the people, but would refrain if it was not.

Tarsem reiterated that their focus remains on what the people want, rather than personal ambitions.
