Himanta Biswa Sarma: Arvind Kejriwal was washed by high voltage washing machine of the Congress

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on May 2 responded to Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi's 'washing machine' remark.

He pointed out the inconsistency in Congress' statements, highlighting that they had previously accused Arvind Kejriwal of corruption in the Delhi excise policy case, but are now praising him.

Sarma further asked about the supposed 'high-voltage washing machine' they possess.

On Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi's reported 'washing machine' remark, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said, "They have a bigger washing machine; Arvind Kejriwal was washed through which washing machine? ask Priyanka Gandhi. Earlier, they (Congress) were saying that Arvind Kejriwal looted money through liquor (Delhi excise policy case) and now they are saying he (Arvind Kejriwal) is a nice person. Now tell me which high-voltage washing machine they have?"

Earlier on May 1, Priyanka Gandhi directly targeted Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma asserting that serious charges against him vanished into thin air when he switched from the Congress to the BJP. Her statement, "There is 'mafia raj' in Assam...There were serious charges against your CM when he was in the Congress party. As soon as he switched to BJP, all charges against him were washed off. BJP has developed a washing machine where corrupt people are put...Your CM was the first one in this regard..."

This isn't Gandhi Vadra's first foray into Assam's political arena. Her earlier visit on April 16 focused on drumming up support for Gaurav Gogoi, the Congress candidate for the Jorhat assembly seat.

She further said, "This govt is entirely focussed on its interests...They are not bothered about the struggles of the public...Unemployment is the highest today. 70 crore people are unemployed..."

As Assam gears up for the third phase of Lok Sabha elections with 47 candidates contesting across four constituencies, the political atmosphere is charged with anticipation.

With the final phase scheduled for May 7, the state braces for a significant electoral showdown, with parties intensifying their campaigns to secure voter support.
