Himanta Biswa Sarma: Congress could win more votes by contesting elections in Pakistan

Assam's Chief Minister visited Behora in Bokakhat today to rally for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in 2024.

During his campaign speech, the CM commended the Prime Minister's commitment to the development of areas surrounding Kaziranga National Park. He emphasized the need for infrastructural growth in these regions to enhance tourism and conservation efforts.

The CM said, “whatever guarantee Modi ji will give, we will make it a warranty in our state”.

However, the Chief Minister didn't shy away from targeting the Congress party, accusing them of collecting donations under the pretext of financial constraints while highlighting their purported lavish expenditures, including helicopter travel. He sarcastically remarked on the irony of the Congress's alleged financial struggles juxtaposed with their seemingly extravagant lifestyle choices.

Responding to the criticisms made by Congress he defended his actions and pointed out the apparent double standards within the Congress party.

“The Congress has nothing to do. They collect donations by telling people they don't have money but travel by helicopter.  But the Congress criticized the Chief Minister for turning around in a helicopter, saying he got promoted by taking a helicopter from a cow cart. The Congress has thousands of crores of rupees”, says the CM.

Moreover, he alleged that the Congress party possesses vast sums of money, contrasting their claims of financial scarcity with their actual wealth.

“The Congress manifesto is more closer to the people of Pakistan, if Congress contests elections from Pakistan then it will get a lot of votes”, remarked the CM.

Sarma said that he has campaigned so much and has not said a word against the Congress. Adding that, “no one has campaigned as nicely as we did”.
