The locals of 'Deepor Beel' have been doing whatever they can to protect the beauty of this ecologically-sensitive zone so that tourists can derive happiness from spending time at the scenic spot which is a popular destination as it is located just outside the metropolis. which is the only 'Ramsar site' in Assam.
These people have been doing that, and they have also been protecting the elephants in the 'elephant corridor' by keeping at at nights to ensure that the pachyderms do not get hit by trains.
Today, these concerned locals met Rajya Sabha MP and Bodo People's Front (BPF) leader Biswajit Daimary at his residence and urged him to take their issues to the concerned authorities so that the 'Deepor Beel' is saved and also to stop the pollution and degradation of the pride of Assam, the 'Deepor Beel'.
They asked the Rajya Sabha MP to take up discussions with the concerned authorities and departments so that steps can be taken to salvage the 'Beel'.
"When the locals of an area take it upon themselves, nothing is impossible, thus, since you have come out for this noble cause, I am sure that the 'Beel' will be preserved", said the Rajya Sabha MP.
Meanwhile, the Rajya Sabha MP has also extended his support for the Inside Northeast campaign. "I support the Inside Northeast campaign #LetsSaveDeeporBeel", he said.
