In a notification of the State Government’s Environment and Forest Department ordered by the Governor dated December 28, 2016, four elephant corridors were identified on the railway track that passes through the Deepor Beel.
In the order, the Governor also directed to constitute a Coordination Committee in each of the elephant corridors of Assam to prevent the death of wild animals, especially the elephants.

As per the notification, the four identified elephant corridors fall under the Forest division- Guwahati WL Division for which the Railway division falls under Rangia, under the Azara station. The corridors are: 64/0 to 64/9, 164/0 to 165/0, 167/0 to 168/0 and 67/0 to 68/9.
Out of four corridors only in 167/0 to 167/5 a tunnel has been constructed and rest are open which is most destructive for the wild animals.
However, the Ministry of Railway and the Northeast Frontier Railways (NFR) has been constructing the double railway track through the 'Beel' that has created a threat to elephants as well as the other animals of the region.
