BJP Manipur slams Congress for demanding Assembly dissolution, calls for focus on peace
The BJP Manipur unit has sharply reacted to the Congress Party’s demand for the dissolution of the present Manipur Legislative Assembly, urging the opposition to stop politicising the state’s sensitive issues and instead focus on constructive criticism that could help restore lasting peace.
Addressing a press conference at the BJP Manipur Pradesh office, the party’s spokesperson, who is also an MLA, stressed that the central government imposed President’s Rule in Manipur to ensure peace and normalcy in the state. He added that the central government continues to closely monitor the situation. The BJP MLAs are also in constant coordination with central leaders to update them on the prevailing scenario and contribute to efforts aimed at restoring stability.

“People of Manipur want peace. BJP prioritises peace over the formation of government,” he said, urging the Congress Party to avoid politicising the situation. Instead, he called on the opposition to provide positive and constructive feedback that can aid in achieving long-term stability in the state.
The BJP leader further highlighted that in times of unrest, political differences must take a backseat, and all parties should work together to support measures that bring peace to the citizens. He emphasised that lasting harmony in Manipur is the collective responsibility of all political stakeholders, transcending party lines.
The press conference comes amid heightened tensions in the state, and the BJP’s remarks underline its commitment to maintaining law and order while discouraging any politicisation of ongoing administrative measures.
