Fashion designer Robert Naorem hosts Fashion Tourism 2026 at Moirang to promote Manipur’s handloom heritage
Internationally acclaimed fashion designer Robert Naorem on February 1, hosted Fashion Tourism 2026 at the LDA Complex, Sendra, Moirang, aiming to promote Manipur’s tourism potential through the creative showcase of its rich handloom and textile heritage.

By organising the event at one of Manipur’s prominent tourist destinations, Naorem sought to blend fashion with tourism, highlighting the state’s traditional craftsmanship and contemporary creativity. The event showcased Manipur as an emerging centre of fashion and design rooted in indigenous culture.
The fashion show witnessed the participation of around 40 male models from across the country, further underlining Manipur’s growing presence on the national fashion map and its potential as a hub for creative talent.
Speaking at a press conference ahead of the show, Robert Naorem emphasised the significance of fashion tourism, stating that it plays a crucial role in promoting local culture, traditional textiles, and craftsmanship while boosting tourism.
He added that such initiatives also create meaningful opportunities for local artisans and designers, contributing to sustainable cultural and economic development in the region.
