Manipur CM N Biren Singh announces plans to establish amusement parks in state

In a bid to boost recreation amidst the violence in the state, the BJP-led Manipur government plans to set up amusement parks across seven districts. 

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh while speaking to the media stated that the Northeast, particularly Manipur, is affected by insurgency, leaving little time for recreation for its residents. To address this, the BJP-led Manipur government has begun setting up amusement parks. These parks are planned to be opened in seven districts across the state.

"Northeast particularly Manipur is an insurgency-affected area. The people do not have time for recreation. Taking all this into account the BJP-led government in Manipur has started establishing it (amusement park)...We will be opening it in seven districts..." said N Biren Singh while speaking to the media.

Chief Minister N Biren Singh inaugurated “Development of Water Amusement Park” project at Thenguchingjin in Awang Potsangbam under Imphal East district today.

Addressing the inaugural function as chief guest, N Biren Singh said that tourism sector will be enhanced with the construction of the Water Amusement Park. The park will surely become a right venue for fun and entertainment.
“Due to absence of adequate entertainment infrastructure, well to do family of Manipur travel to other states just to have fun and enjoyment. This will lead to drain economy of state. However, construction of Water Amusement Park in the own state will not only save state’s economy but will also help anyone or anybody can have joy of having fun,” he expressed.
He continued and informed that apart from today’s inaugurated park, similar project was already constructed in other districts as well. They are in Jiribam district, Kangpokpi District, Ukhrul district, Chandel district, Senapati, Tamenglong district, Churachandpur district and Noney district. 

With the strong believe that emotional bonding and sense of oneness can be exist only when equal development is brought in both hill and valley. Because of this reason, the present government launched Go to Hill and Go to Village, he added.

Biren said that Manipur had endured so many difficulties and challenges in many phases. However, state had prevailed peaceful environment where many developmental projects was taken up successfully. Yet again Manipur has been undergoing tough days. Nevertheless, the struggle will surely end one day as state government is putting all means to restore everlasting peace and stability.

He said that state is not against to any community. The present crisis is all to end poppy cultivation, drugs issue and illegal immigrants who enter state after 1961. The Kuki community has also started realising that the current conflict is not about against them but to those who are doing illegal activities and entering state after 1961. 

While appealing to people of the state to refrain using provocative words or speech which will promote enmity in the state, he said that Manipur is a very sensitive state. People should be very cautious in giving public speech or TV discussion. As the state is gradually restoring peace with so much effort. To retain peace in the state, it is utmost need to stop using any words which may create misunderstanding and hatred amongst the communities. The programme was also attended by many ministers, MLAs and high ranking officials.
