Manipur CM N Biren Singh dedicates the historic Nongpok Thong Bridge, the Eastern Gate of Kangla fort to the people

Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh on Tuesday, January 10, presented and dedicated the state's historic Kangla Nongpok Thong, also known as the Eastern Gate of Kangla Fort to the public.

Maharaja Leishemba Sanajaoba, Rajya Sabha MP, Cabinet ministers, MLAs, and a string of high-ranking officials, and area residents, among others, attended the dedication ceremony.

One of the 21 projects that Union Home Minister Amit Shah recently inaugurated during his visit to the state last week is Kangla Nongpok Thong. According to Biren, the fact that Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted, "May the spirit of peace, prosperity, and happiness be enhanced across the state," is a source of great pride and honor for a small state like Manipur.

IRB personnel will operate the Nongpok Thong, while the Nongchup Thong (the western gate) will remain closed. The area immediately adjacent to the eastern gate will be developed to enhance the historic Kangla's appeal. He also said that the road that leads to the gate will soon be double-laned.

He stated that his government is doing everything in its power to promote peace, prosperity, and state unity.
Imphal Smart City Limited (ISCL) served as the financing agency for the Nongpok Thong, and Manipur Police Housing Corporation Limited (MHPC ltd) served as the work agency.
