Manipur Floods: Relief camp opens as Thoubal district submerges

Incessant rainfall in Manipur over the past week has led to flooding in parts of Thoubal District for the last three days.

Meanwhile, a relief camp has been opened today with the support of district authorities.  The Khangabok Village in Thoubal District has been particularly affected, with the nearby river still running high.

A villager from Khangabok mentioned that this is the third flood in the village this year.

Due to the recent rainfall, many farmlands are submerged and around 15 houses have been displaced. The villagers are expecting timely support.

Earlier on August 20, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted heavy to very heavy rain in the coming days.

The following guidelines are issued for precaution:

1. Remain alert for possible floods and breaches of river banks or embankments.

2. Keep updated with the latest weather forecasts and warnings from local, state, and national authorities. Ignore rumours and stay calm.
