In a dramatic and well-coordinated display of readiness, the Kangpokpi District Administration today conducted a full-scale Civil Defence Mock Drill under the banner of Operation Abhiyas, signalling a bold commitment to public safety and emergency preparedness.
The simulated operation, conducted at Elite Higher Secondary School, unfolded with military-like precision—beginning at 9:00 AM with the blaring of air raid sirens and emergency distress calls. What followed was a gripping demonstration of how Kangpokpi would respond in the face of a hostile attack or large-scale disaster.
The drill involved search-and-rescue missions, casualty evacuation, simulated blackouts, the rapid deployment of fire services, setting up of temporary hospital camps, and the relocation of civilians to safe zones. Over 500 participants, including security personnel, healthcare workers, NCC cadets, and local volunteers, mobilised seamlessly in what could only be described as a textbook example of crisis management.
Present at the site were top district officials, including Deputy Commissioner Mahesh Chaudhari, IAS, and Superintendent of Police Manoj Prabhakar, IPS, who closely monitored the drill and later addressed the press.
“The success of today’s drill is a testament to Kangpokpi’s collective resolve. We are ready—not just on paper, but on the ground,” asserted DC Mahesh Chaudhari. He praised the coordination between civil departments, the CRPF, Fire Services, the Medical teams, and the general public. “Preparedness saves lives. This is not just an exercise—it’s our promise to the people of Kangpokpi.”

SP Manoj Prabhakar added, “Operation Abhiyas is a rehearsal for resilience. We want our citizens to be calm, aware, and confident that help will always arrive—swiftly and efficiently.”
The mock drill was not just a technical showcase—it was a community awakening. Students, villagers, and civilian observers were visibly moved by the display, with many expressing a deeper sense of security and civic responsibility.
The event also saw the presence of senior officials including Shokhonam Baite, MCS, ADM Kangpokpi, Hemant Kumar, IAS, SDO T-Waichong, Doujapao Haokip, MCS, CEO SH-ADC), along with officials from the 112 BN CRPF, local police, district departments, and community leaders.
Importantly, the district administration had issued a prior advisory urging the public not to panic, ensuring that the mock drill proceeded smoothly without confusion.
With Operation Abhiyas, Kangpokpi has set a benchmark in civil defence preparedness—not just as an administrative responsibility but as a people’s movement for safety and resilience. The message is loud and clear: Kangpokpi is ready.
