Members of the youth wing of the Manipur People’s Party (MPP), a regional political party, staged a protest in Imphal on September 13 opposing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the state.
The protesters marched with placards and shouted slogans condemning the Prime Minister’s arrival, just minutes before Modi addressed a public meeting at Kangla Fort. The rally began from the MPP office near Polo Ground, with demonstrators attempting to march towards Kangla. However, security forces intervened and dispersed the protest shortly after it started.
Chanting slogans such as “PM Modi Down Down” and “Without Agenda, No Welcome,” the protesters denounced the Prime Minister’s visit, calling it meaningless without a concrete plan to resolve the crisis in Manipur.
