Manipur violence: Intermittent firing underway near Sugnu village in Kakching district, no casualties reported

Situation turned tense in the last 24 hours with intermittent firing and bombarding underway in peripheral areas of Manipur. 

According to sources, armed miscreants launched attacks in Sugnu under Kakching district from February 13 midnight using sophisticated weapons. 

The armed miscreants have been intermittently bombarding and firing near the peripheral areas. One house got damaged along with several properties in the attack as one bomb fell and exploded in residential area. It is reported that the bomb was hurled directly inside the house of a resident at Moirangningthou of Sugnu on February 15 at around 11 pm. But fortunately no one got injured. 

A team of police led by Kakching SP and additional SP rushed to the site where bomb was exploded to take stock of situation.

The attacked provoked security forces to retaliate the attackers. As such regular gunfight broke out between armed militants and security forces. The situation in area although continue to remain tense is under control.
