Rajya Sabha MP calls for proper implementation of 1949 Manipur Merger Agreement

Rajya Sabha MP Sanajaoba Leishemba has urged the government to ensure the proper implementation of the 1949 Manipur Merger Agreement, stressing the need to address historical and political concerns arising from it.

The MP emphasized the necessity of corrective measures to safeguard Manipur's interests, highlighting that the agreement's execution has long been a subject of contention. 

He called for government intervention to uphold the state’s rights and historical significance within the Indian Union.

The demand has once again reignited discussions on Manipur’s political and historical status, with many stakeholders closely watching the government's response.
