Landslide disrupts traffic on NH-6 in Mizoram after heavy rainfall

In Mizoram, a landslide struck National Highway No. 6 between Seling and Keifang—on the route to Champhai and the Indo-Myanmar Border (IMB)—early this morning, May 10, following intense overnight rainfall.

The landslide led to significant disruption in vehicular movement, affecting commuters and cargo transportation along one of the state’s critical roadways. The affected stretch lies on a strategic route linking central Mizoram to its eastern districts and the international border.

Local authorities and road maintenance teams have reportedly been mobilised to clear the debris and restore traffic. No casualties have been reported so far, but travellers are advised to avoid the route until clearance operations are complete.

With the monsoon season setting in, officials have warned of the increased likelihood of such incidents and have urged commuters to exercise caution when travelling through landslide-prone zones.
