Assam Rifles, in collaboration with the Zokhawthar Police Department, successfully recovered 9.298 kilograms of Methamphetamine tablets from the General Area Crossing Point Two (Vang Kai) in the Champhai district of Mizoram.
The operation, which took place on February 17, 2025, also led to the apprehension of two Myanmar nationals involved in the smuggling operation.
The arrested individuals were identified as Lalthangvela (28 years), son of Hrangthanzema, and Zaithangpuia (26 years), son of Raldothanga, both residents of Khawmawi, Myanmar.
The duo was caught with a substantial quantity of methamphetamine, commonly known as “crystal meth,” which is known for its destructive impact on communities and has been a rising concern for law enforcement agencies in the region.
Following the recovery, the Assam Rifles and the Police Department of Zokhawthar took the suspects and the seized drugs into custody. The individuals are currently under investigation, with legal proceedings set to follow.

This successful operation highlights the ongoing efforts by Assam Rifles and local law enforcement to curb the growing issue of drug trafficking and smuggling along the porous borders of Mizoram.
