Mizoram Governor inspects newly constructed 100-Bed RIPANS hospital in Aizawl

Mizoram Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati paid an official visit to the Regional Institute of Paramedical and Nursing Sciences (RIPANS) located in Zemabawk, Aizawl. The visit included an extensive inspection of the newly constructed 100-bed RIPANS Hospital and various other infrastructural facilities within the campus.

Upon his arrival, Governor Kambhampati, accompanied by Dr. Sanjay D. Sawant, the Director of RIPANS, and his team, meticulously toured the hospital's different sections and wards. The hospital, which is slated to become operational by the end of this year, has generated considerable optimism among the faculty. During the visit, the faculty highlighted the necessity for the Mizoram Public Works Department (MPWD) to improve the approach road. They also emphasized the critical need for support from the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) and the Power and Electricity (P&E) Departments to ensure a steady supply of water and electricity, essential for the hospital’s operations.

In addition to the hospital, Governor Kambhampati examined several key infrastructures on the campus. These included the Medical Superintendent's Quarters, Doctors’ Quarters, Staff Nurse Quarters, an Indoor Sports Complex and Auditorium, the General Hostel, Guest House, and Academic Building Block IV.

Following the inspections, RIPANS organized a formal meeting at their Conference Hall. The session began with a welcome address by Dr. Sawant, followed by an informative presentation by Dr. Ruby Z. Ralte, the Administrative Officer. Dr. Ralte provided a comprehensive overview of RIPANS, detailing the programs and courses offered, major infrastructures, faculty achievements, social contributions, and upcoming initiatives.

During his address, Governor Kambhampati commended the rapid progress in the development of the campus's infrastructure. He expressed particular satisfaction with the construction of the 100-bed hospital, which has the potential to evolve into a top-tier national multi-specialty hospital akin to AIIMS. The Governor was optimistic about the hospital’s role in enhancing the quality of healthcare services not only in Mizoram but across the entire Northeast region. The RIPANS Hospital is expected to be fully functional early next year, significantly contributing to the regional healthcare landscape.

Established in 1995-96 under the North Eastern Council (NEC), RIPANS was transferred to the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (H&FW) on April 1, 2007. It remains the sole institution under the Ministry's administrative control.
