Nagaland Congress has lodged a complaint against deputy Chief Minister Y. Patton with the Election Commission of India (ECI) and the state’s Chief Election Officer Abhijit Sinha in reaction to alleged violation of Model Code of Conduct (MCC).
In an image that has gone viral on social, Patton was seen at the at 31 Riphyim Old-III polling station under 37 Tyui Assembly constituency openly displaying a BJP scarf around his neck. Moreover, it has been claimed that Patton was caught on camera entering the polling centre with seven to eight voter slips.
Meanwhile, the CEO has said that Patton violated the MCC by entering the polling station wearing a BJP scarf and said that the DEO will issue a notice in this regard.
Moreover, the Congress party has also alleged that re-polling is in order at the polling station no. 31 under 37 Tuyi Assembly Constituency in Wokha district, where Patton cast his vote.
Nagaland headed to the polls on April 11 during the Phase-I of polls. Voter turnout was registered at 78.6 % in the North-East state.
