Nagaland: Truck swept away as landslide cripples NH-2 near Kisama

Incessant rainfall over the past several days has triggered a massive landslide near Kisama village, leading to severe road subsidence just a few meters from the exit of the Naga Heritage Village along National Highway-2 (NH-2).

The landslide, which caused a portion of the highway to collapse, has brought traffic to a complete halt on this critical interstate route connecting Nagaland and Manipur.

According to initial reports, a truck was washed away in the debris flow, though official confirmation on casualties is awaited.

Several vehicles, especially heavy goods trucks en route to Manipur, remain stranded on both sides of the damaged highway.

Travelers and transporters are facing serious difficulties, with no immediate alternative route available in the affected stretch.

Local authorities have rushed to the site, and restoration efforts are expected to begin once weather conditions stabilize. Meanwhile, commuters are advised to avoid the area and seek updates from local administration before planning any travel along the NH-2 corridor.
