NEW DELHI: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi today announced suspension of all his public rallies in West Bengal today in view of the surge in the COVID-19 in the country.
"In view of the Covid situation, I am suspending all my public rallies in West Bengal," tweeted Rahul Gandhi.
He had also advised other leaders to think about the further consequences of holding large rallies under the current COVID-19 situation.
Though Gandhi's announcement was being applauded by a few for setting an example of leading from the front, another segment of Twitterati said it makes no change as Congress was losing in the West Bengal polls anyway.

India experienced the highest ever single day rise in COVID-19 cases with over 2.61 lakh new cases and over 1,500 deaths recorded over the past 24 hours. As the single day spike is increasing with each passing day, India has been facing a shortage in medical oxygen, vaccine, hospital beds etc as well.
Though the Election Commission of India has issued a few set of guidelines for holding election rallies but all have gone for a toss. No stringent action has been seen taken by the ECI either against the errant political leaders.
