India's External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Saturday expressed his sorrow at the demise of America's first Sikh cop, Sandeep Dhaliwal.
Taking to Twitter, the Union Minister wrote, "Deeply grieved to learn of the shooting of Deputy Sandeep Singh Dhaliwal, a Sikh Indian-American officer in Houston. We have just visited that city. My condolences to his family."

Twitterati, meanwhile, has demanded action for the death of the Sikh hero. "Sir, please make use of HowdyMody Razzamatazz to get early justice for the murder of American NRI. Take up the matter with US department so hat murderer is caught quickly and punished", wrote one user, while another wrote, "Police Officer Dhaliwal was true and loyal to his duty and to the law and justice system of USA. Rest in Peace and may God give solace to his family in these difficult times".
Earlier, Dhaliwal, who was the first Sikh police officer, was shot dead by unidentified assailants while conducting a traffic stop.

Dhaliwal was a 10-year veteran of the Harris County Sheriff's Office and a father of three.
There were two people in the vehicle. As Dhaliwal was headed back to his patrol car, Sherrif Gonzalez said a man got out of the vehicle with a pistol, and proceeded to shoot the Sikh officer. Dhaliwal soon succumbed to his injuries.
His death was mourned by many, including Texas Governor Greg Abbott, whose statement read, ", saying "this tragic loss is a grave reminder of the risks that our law enforcement officers face every single day."
"I thank the officers who bravely responded to apprehend the suspect, and I assure you that the state of Texas is committed to bringing this killer to justice," Abbott further added.
