Bomb threat turns out to be a hoax, confirms Delhi Education Minister Atishi Marlena

A wave of bomb threats targeting over 100 schools across Delhi-NCR sparked alarm today. However, Delhi Education Minister Atishi Marlena condemned the incidents, labeling them as an attempt to disrupt the peace of students and their families.

"This is very unfortunate that someone is trying to target children and their parents and trouble them," Atishi remarked. "Fortunately, this threat turned out to be a hoax." She commended the Delhi Police for their rapid response, which included dispatching bomb squads to each affected school and conducting thorough searches.

However, sources revealed that the e-mail ID from which the bomb threat letters were sent to Delhi-NCR schools is sawariim@mail.ru. The investigation has revealed that 'Sawariim' is an Arabic word used by the Islamic State since 2014 for spreading Islamist propaganda. Delhi Police is investigating if there is a conspiracy of any organization behind these threatening emails.

The initial threat surfaced at Delhi Public School in Dwarka, triggering a coordinated effort from law enforcement agencies, including the Bomb Disposal Squad and fire services. A comprehensive search operation is ongoing at the school premises to ensure the safety of all stakeholders.

In a parallel incident, Mother Mary's School in Mayur Vihar received a similar threat, prompting immediate evacuation measures by the school administration. Law enforcement personnel are currently scouring the school grounds for any potential threats.

Sanskriti School also received an alarming email regarding a bomb threat, prompting the presence of Delhi Police personnel at the location. Further details about this incident are awaited as the investigation unfolds.

The Delhi Police confirmed the receipt of bomb threat emails by several schools, triggering a thorough investigation into the matter. "We were constantly in touch with the Delhi Police. Delhi police sent a bomb squad to each school that received a threat, and a thorough search was carried out. No such thing, which could prove to be dangerous for children, was found in any school," Atishi reiterated.

While the threats turned out to be hoaxes, authorities remain vigilant, urging parents not to panic. Atishi assured that schools would resume normal operations under tight security measures. "Schools will be closely monitored, and schools will function normally tomorrow onwards," she added.
