President Murmu confers Bharat Ratna to veteran BJP leader LK Advani at his residence

President Droupadi Murmu bestowed the Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian award, upon veteran BJP leader LK Advani during a ceremony at Advani's residence in Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, and former Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu graced the occasion.

The ceremony on Sunday marked the recognition of Advani's significant contributions to Indian politics. Earlier, President Murmu conferred Bharat Ratna on five other eminent personalities, including former Prime Ministers Chaudhary Charan Singh and PV Narasimha Rao.

Accompanied by prominent political figures, President Murmu honored the recipients, including former Bihar Chief Minister Karpoori Thakur and agronomist MS Swaminathan, for their exemplary service to the nation.

Prime Minister Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP National President JP Nadda, and Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge were among the dignitaries present at the event, highlighting the bipartisan acknowledgment of the awardees' achievements.

Advani, born on June 28, 1921, in Karimnagar, Telangana, has played pivotal roles in Indian politics, serving as the President of the Bharatiya Janata Party and holding significant ministerial positions in the cabinet of Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

Karpoori Thakur, known for his unwavering commitment to social justice, and Chaudhary Charan Singh, a prominent leader from Uttar Pradesh, were also honored posthumously for their remarkable contributions to society and governance.

MS Swaminathan, celebrated for his pioneering work in agriculture and genetics, has been instrumental in India's agricultural development, earning him the title of the scientific leader of India's green revolution movement.
The conferral of Bharat Ratna upon these distinguished personalities underscores their enduring legacies and invaluable contributions to the nation, shaping India's political, social, and agricultural landscape.
