Religious conflict erupts at Mother Teresa School in Telangana over students' attire dispute

A school in Telangana's Mancherial district became the center of controversy after members of a religious outfit vandalized the premises in protest against alleged objections raised by teachers regarding the attire of some students. According to reports, teachers at Mother Teresa School purportedly denied entry to certain students wearing 'Hanuman Deeksha dress', prompting outrage from parents and members of the religious group.

Following complaints from parents, a case was registered on Wednesday against the school correspondent and principal under sections 153(A) and 295(A) of the Indian Penal Code, pertaining to promoting enmity between religious groups and insulting religious sentiments, respectively. Parents asserted that the students were donning saffron attire as part of a 21-day religious observance.

In response, the school management contended that the principal had simply requested the students to bring their parents after noticing deviation from the school uniform policy. However, tensions escalated as members of the religious group staged protests outside the school premises, demanding action against the management for allegedly barring students from attending classes and participating in annual examinations while wearing the Hanuman deeksha dress.

The situation turned volatile when protesters reportedly entered the school compound and vandalized windows, as depicted in social media visuals showing shattered glass and damaged property. Despite the school management filing a complaint with local authorities, no arrests have been made thus far.
