In a shocking incident from Mangzim village in Sikkim’s Namchi district, a man was arrested for allegedly killing his daughter’s boyfriend after the latter attacked her with a sharp weapon and vandalised their home on Sunday night.
According to police, the deceased, Anjal Rai (30), stormed into his girlfriend’s house and attacked her with a khukuri (traditional knife), suspecting her of being involved with another man. He also ransacked the house before attempting to flee.
The victim’s father, Tenzing Sherpa, pursued Rai and fatally struck him with a wooden plank. Rai died on the spot. Sherpa was arrested on the charge of murder. A minor who accompanied him was also detained.
The injured daughter has been hospitalised. Police have launched a full investigation into the matter.
