Sikkim man arrested for allegedly molesting minor niece multiple times

GANGTOK: A 57-year-old man from Sikkim has been arrested by police on the charges of allegedly sexually assaulting his 10-year-old niece. The incident happened on January 17 in a village under Temi Police Station in South Sikkim district.

A written FIR was lodged by the father of the minor, which stated that his minor daughter aged 10 was sexually assaulted multiple times by one Nar Bdr. Basnett of Lower Tanak in a nearby jungle.

The sexual offender had reportedly threatened the minor to not inform anyone about the same.

The accused is related to the victim and had sexually assaulted the victim on three previous occasions (exact date and time not known to the victim).

The accused used to lure the victim child by giving her cash and warned her not to reveal this to anyone.

A case under section POCSO has been registered against the accused.
