Sikkim: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh virtually inaugurates Prerna Sthal

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh virtually inaugurated the Prerna Sthal in Bardang, Sikkim on Friday.

Singh who was supposed to reach Sikkim, failed to reach owing to adverse weather conditions curtailing his helicopter from taking off in Bagdogra airport in West Bengal. He carried out the virtual inauguration from Sukna Military base in Siliguri. 

The virtual inauguration in Bardang was attended by Governor Om Prakash Mathur and Chief Minister Prem Singh Golay and officials from the Indian Army and state cabinet. 

The Prerna Sthal has been constructed as a Memorial for 22 Army Jawans who lost their lives during the October 2023 GLOF.
