Sikkim hatcheries revive Bermiok facility, boosts poultry industry with Cob Y chicks

On the eve of Vijaya Dasami, Sikkim Hatcheries Ltd (SHL) has successfully revived operations at the Bermiok Hatchery by producing 400 day-old chicks (DOCs) of the Cob Y breed.

This marks a crucial milestone for the state's poultry industry. The DOCs will be available for sale through pre-booking, with prices determined by the North Bengal and Sikkim markets.

Sikkim Hatcheries Ltd, a government undertaking and sister organization of Sikkim Poultry Development Corporation (SPDC), was established in 1997 and commissioned in 1999 to ensure a stable supply of hatching eggs and parent stock to the state's hatchery units.
