India B (Manipur) triumphs over Colombia as 15th Manipur Polo International concludes in Imphal

The 15th Manipur Polo International concluded on Friday with a remarkable victory for India B (Manipur), who defeated Colombia 8–5 in a thrilling final played at the historic Imphal Polo Ground (Mapal Kangjeibung). 

The prestigious tournament, held as part of the Manipur Sangai Festival 2025, showcased world-class polo action and reaffirmed Manipur’s legacy as the birthplace of modern polo.

Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla, accompanied by the First Lady, graced the closing ceremony and witnessed the electrifying final match between India B (Manipur) and Colombia. The Governor also released the official souvenir of the 15th edition and initiated the match with the ceremonial throw-in. The final drew an enthusiastic crowd, celebrating the exceptional talent and competitive spirit displayed by both international and local players.

The tournament, which began on November 22, marked its grand return after a two-year hiatus, revived with renewed energy and purpose under the Governor’s leadership. The participation of multiple international teams added prestige and excitement, while also highlighting Manipur’s deep-rooted equestrian heritage.

Following the match, the Governor and the First Lady distributed prizes to the winning team, runners-up, and participating players, lauding their skill, sportsmanship and dedication. With the formal declaration of the tournament’s closure, the 15th Manipur Polo International ended on a high note, celebrating both sporting excellence and cultural pride.

The event was attended by dignitaries, members of the Manipur Pony Society and a large number of spectators, reaffirming the state’s enduring bond with the sport of polo.
