Tripura: One held with cannabis worth Rs 8 lakh in Sepahijala District

Tripura Police arrested one person and seized cannabis worth Rs 8 lakh from Rampada Village under Sonamura Sub-division of Tripura’s Sepahijala District on Wednesday.

Speaking with reporters, the officer-in-charge of Melaghar Police Station, Debasish Saha, stated that they received a tip about the stockpiling of a large cache of cannabis in a house.

“Based on secret information about the stockpiling of a large cache of cannabis, Tripura Police personnel and CRPF conducted a raid at the residence of Chaitra Mohan Debbarma in Rampada Village. After the raid, we recovered 240 kgs, which were kept in drums and buried. We have also arrested Chaitra Mohan Debbarma and registered a case against him. The estimated value would be around Rs 8 lakh,” said the officer.
