Tripura Police on Sunday morning detained a cement-laden truck and arrested two persons along with Yaba tablets worth Rs 1 crore from Agartala city.
Speaking on the issue, West Tripura District Superintendent of Police Kiran Kumar said that around 6 am, Tripura Police received a tip-off regarding the Yaba tablets.
Based on the tip-off, Officers-in-Charge of West and East Agartala Police Stations, Rana Chatterjee and Paritosh Das, along with Sadar Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Debaprasad Roy, rushed to the spot and detained the truck.
"Officers-in-Charge of West and East Agartala Police Stations have detained the 12-wheeler truck. The truck came from Meghalaya carrying cement and was en route to Sonamura in Sepahijala district. We have detained two persons, including Jamal Hossen (43), the driver, and Mintu Barman (33). Both are residents of Bishalgarh in Sepahijala district. After the preliminary search, we seized 1,20,000 Yaba tablets worth Rs 1 crore," the SP said.
He added that both individuals have been arrested and will be forwarded to court, where police remand will be sought for further investigation.
